Playtime?

The luxury of being able to do things at your own pace should be treasured and not ignored. Provided you are creative—and everyone is creative or can develop creativity in some area of life—you can discover (perhaps rediscover) yourself and your outlets for self-expression.

As we age, responsibilities increase and we have less time available. Recreation, fun and, leisure activities are often the first things to be eliminated from our busy lives. However, while this may be necessary for a period of time, it is not recommended to be your norm.

When was the last time you had a completely unscheduled day off? When was the last time you played? It is easy to get so busy that we don’t have time for the things that we enjoy. At some point, however, you have to stop and ask yourself, “What is the point of doing all this work if I don’t have time to enjoy myself?” Often times I will ask new coaching clients to begin doing things that they really enjoy and often times they don’t even know what they’d like to do! Playing rejuvenates and energizes you so that you can return to work with enthusiasm. Your life, no matter how wonderful, requires a balance of work and play.
