3 Ways Friends and Family React to Your Illness

In 2014, I endured a horrific health crisis. Multiple strokes, a cancer diagnosis, followed by risky surgery and several months of chemotherapy, brought many of my relationships, from casual to intimate, into sharp focus. I found that friends and family reacted to my serious illness in one of three ways. [Read more…]

Authenticity is the New/Old Black*

No matter how you slice it, authenticity is key. One of the tenents to being successful in business, indeed in life, is to be someone that people know, like and trust. You must be yourself in all situations. In this way, everyone wins, because the energy vibration is much higher.

When I became ill, a big fear I had was that I would lose clients of my business. But I chose not to react from that place of fear. [Read more…]

How to respond to the new paradigm for referrals?

Twenty or thirty years ago, if you needed the name of a ear nose and throat doctor, an estate planning lawyer, or a plumber, the best means to secure these services was to ask your family, friends or neighbors. These assumptions about EI in the workplace are rapidly being put to rest as more and more organizations – from Fortune 500 companies to government agencies, solo entrepreneurs to non-profit organizations – realize the importance of having self or staff that has been trained in emotional intelligence strategies, and who know how to navigate coworkers’, colleagues’ and clients’ emotional trigger points. By doing so, better outcomes are achieved, and the organization as a whole, whether large or small, becomes more successful.  [Read more…]

Plays well with others?

“The prophets are one family of God. Some have come in one country, some in another. But they belong to us all. If we celebrate the day of our prophet and criticize others, it is my feeling that our prophet will not be pleased, and we will never become enlightened. God has emphasized the same message through each prophet: “Go and teach the people love, teach them how to live well, take away their fears and their evils.” In essence, all prophets sacrificed to create good human beings.” — Baba Virsa Singh
