Are you a contrarian?

Albert Einstein once said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

One way to approach a difficult conundrum is to think about how “conventional wisdom” would see a situation, and then look at it from the an opposite or different viewpoint.

Glue is supposed to stick, right? But a failed glue product led us to the ubiquitous little squares of sticky paper we use to post notes on things.

To defend yourself, you need to meet force with force, correct? Some martial arts practitioners actually yield to the attacker, using the perpetrator’s force against him or her.

If people were meant to fly, we would have been born with wings. Wasn’t there another way to solve this problem?

Call it thinking in a different realm, looking at things from a contrarian point of view, or simply spending some time “outside the box.” Sometimes we can be at our best when we allow our creative consciousness the freedom to do what it does best.

What boundary is confining you today?
