Today’s marketing tip for the small entrepreneur

We’re all familiar with focus groups. But getting together a group of people in a room with a moderator for guided discussion is expensive for the small entrepreneur.

And, in today’s all too busy, digital world, probably impossible, especially if your demographic is one in which technology is often traded for time.

Consider a video focus group. There are various services where you can create an online video group made up of a number of participants. Then, you can moderate, or hire a moderator, to guide the discussion and facilitate the questions. All your participants need is access to a fairly-recent vintage PC or Mac where they can login to the show. Plus, unlike old-fashioned focus groups where once the meeting ended you were left with some sketchy written notes, you can typically replay the tape of your video focus group. This can enhance your analysis, leading to more effective market research.
